#48: The Rest We Need
Dear friends, welcome to Living Boldly.
You might not have noticed it, but last week, I didn’t issue a newsletter. That was a first for me as I’ve been committed to this weekly newsletter since it began ages ago… umm, last January.
I didn’t issue a newsletter because I was tired. Tired to the point that even the idea of writing a short jolly newsletter email seemed like an impossible task.
I’m seeing this feeling of weariness creep in all around me. Many of us are processing all the heavy things we’ve had to deal with this year (not to mention the usual dread that can come during the holidays). If that’s you, know that you’re not alone.
We need rest. We all need rest right now.
So consider this my invitation to you to stop being so busy this month and gradually, slowly, shift your gears into a lower speed. All that stuff that needs to be done can wait till January.
I, for one, will be wrapping up this newsletter today until the new year. Because even the tiny amount of creative energy I use on this newsletter needs to be restored.
We cannot give from an empty well. Indeed, refilling our well is an often overlooked, yet vital part of the creative process. In our society, we’re pressured to produce, to always be on, to keep pushing and hustling. In this society, rest is revolutionary.
So let’s be revolutionary for the remainder of this crappy year.
I wish you a restful, restorative time and I’ll see you back here on January 10.
Onwards,
Yulia
P.S. While I’m away, consider catching up on my Genius Womxn podcast. We’ll have wonderful bonus episodes coming your way this year-end. This week’s episode was with Nastasia Yakoub, a travel blogger and founder of the popular @dametraveler community on Instagram. Listen here.
This week’s joy links:
I’m reading NPR’s Best Books of 2020 which is sort of my annual tradition where I get to see all the new interesting books that came out this year
I’m listening to the French Cafe Lounge playlist on Spotify that’s been really good at getting me into a festive mood
I’m watching The Hook Up Plan, a French show through which I’m traveling to Paris at the moment
